Ahead to Euro 2024, England manager Gareth Southgate may find himself in a difficult situation since a few members of his prospective team may be travelling to Australia for a post-season friendly.

May 22 will see Tottenham and Newcastle meet at Melbourne Cricket Ground, a few days after their season-ending Premier League encounter. After Newcastle’s FA Cup defeat last weekend, the Magpies were granted permission to play Spurs in a post-season friendly. Following their league match on May 19, the two teams will depart for Australia.

When it gets closer to the event, Southgate may choose to have three players in his Euro 2024 squad travel halfway across the globe a few days before they team up for international action. James Maddison of Tottenham and Anthony Gordon of Newcastle were included in the England team for the March friendlies against Brazil and Belgium. Kieran Trippier is a great contender to play in Germany this summer at the European Championships.

Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou is a well-known personality in Melbourne, where he moved from Greece as a child and is depicted in numerous murals. Prior to his employment, the city had a sizable Spurs fan base. On June 16, England will play Serbia in Gelsenkirchen to begin their Euro campaign.
