While Nottingham Forest waits to find out what happens, Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane have previously expressed their opinions about a Premier League point deduction.

In January, the Premier League filed charges against the Reds and Everton for allegedly breaking the Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR). Forest started its defense against that claim last Thursday and Friday in front of an impartial commission.

The Reds will have the option to appeal the decision, but it is expected that the decision will be made public on Monday. If the club is found guilty, one possible penalty is a deduction of points. For a different charge in November, relegation rivals Everton were originally docked ten points; however, this was subsequently lowered to six on appeal.

Additionally, former Liverpool defender Carragher has expressed some empathy for Everton, albeit with less tolerance for the Toffees’ ownership. He stated on The Overlap, “I think, unfortunately for Everton, they’re in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

“There are so many other clubs in the Premier League these days, and it almost feels like we’re taking a stance to discourage others from breaching the law and believing they can get away with it.

“Everton’s real owners and the club’s upper management cannot be furious. Where is the thinking when you’ve been working with the Premier League and they’ve been telling you how close you’re getting and you still overstep it?

Conversely, Keane concurred with Carragher’s assessment and maintained that Everton ought to “hold their hands up and take their medicine” following a deduction of points.

“Could Everton not just hold their hands up and take their medicine?” replied Keane. “I know it’s harsh, but Everton gets some closure after a few difficult years. They deserve ten points.”

From a football perspective, everyone believes they have enough to stay up. Given that they have won four games, this is evident. They need to learn from their previous mistakes, move on, and get their feel-good factor back at the club before their upcoming cup match.
