Rangers’ rumored £7 million summer bid was turned down, and the 25-year-old is now going to Wembley

Haji Wright sends Coventry to Wembley nine months on from £7m Rangers bid claims

Although Haji Wright propels Coventry to the FA Cup semi-finals and a meeting with Wembley destiny, he was being linked to Rangers just nine months prior. The large 25-year-old forward for the USA broke Wolves’ hearts by scoring the game-winning goal in injury time, eliminating the Premier League team from the FA Cup.

A second-half goal by Ellis Simms, a striker who was also connected to Rangers previously in his career, gave Championship Coventry a stunning finish to the match.

However, late goals from Hugo Bueno (88) and Rayan Aït-Nouri (83) appeared to have broken the tie at Molineux, setting for a late, late display from the Skyblues.

Ellis Simms came on to equalize in the ninety-third minute, then Haji Wright made good on the club record £7.7 million Coventry paid to acquire him from Antalyaspor in the summer by winning in the one hundredth minute.

Rangers “bid for” Haji Wright, who is headed to Coventry.

Haji Wright is a name Rangers supporters will recall from the summer when the Ibrox team was looking for more firepower to bolster their squad.

The then-manager Michael Beale had set his sights on bringing in a new forward, with rumours circulating in Turkey that Rangers had offered £7 million.

For whatever reason, Coventry pounced and offered to sign the 25-year-old hitman before Antalyaspor lost interest in him.

In place of the forward Viktor Gyokeres, who is headed to Sporting Lisbon, Haji Wright has had a really fascinating debut season in England.

The striker, who has now scored 15 goals in 40 games in the West Midlands, including a double in a recent Championship victory against Watford, is clearly having the best season of his Coventry career.

Gers decided to relocate.

Instead, Rangers decided to go elsewhere in the transfer market, and the outcome has been, well, uneven.

Although Cyriel Dessers has shown glimpses of his potential, he has struggled in crucial situations since joining from Cremonese for an alleged £4.5 million.

Danilo, a Brazilian striker, also signed a £6 million contract with Feyenoord, although he has been out for the whole of the season due to a severe knee injury.

Rangers may be considering what may have happened if Haji Wright had relocated to Ibrox rather than Coventry, even though they are on track to win a triple.
