Exclusive: Rangers plot striker signing after Ibrox source’s £20m reveal

According to sources from Football Insider, Rangers are aiming to prioritize the signing of a new striker during the upcoming summer transfer window, even if Fabio Silva’s loan move becomes permanent. The club is keen on having “two top forwards” for the next season and has identified this as their primary objective heading into the main transfer window of the year.

The budget for summer transfers will hinge on Rangers’ qualification for the Champions League, which is anticipated to provide a significant £20 million boost to their transfer funds. The club is reportedly planning to make Fabio Silva’s loan move from Wolves permanent in the off-season, contingent upon securing Champions League qualification.

Rangers, under manager Philippe Clement, intend to be active in the summer market to enhance their squad after an impressive start under his leadership. However, since Silva’s loan deal doesn’t include an option to buy, negotiations will be necessary to finalize his permanent signing.

Football Insider also revealed that Rangers are targeting three specific positions for strengthening next season: left-back, central midfielder, and striker. Kemar Roofe, currently with the club, is expected to depart at the end of the season as his contract is not set for extension, making him a free agent.

Despite ongoing transfer plans, Rangers continue to lead the league and recently progressed to the Scottish Cup semi-finals with a 2-0 victory against Hibernian. Their next fixture is the second leg of the Europa League last-16 tie against Benfica at Ibrox on Thursday evening.
