After a protracted injury layoff, the 32-year-old Northern Ireland striker has rejoined the first squad, and his performances this season have activated a one-year contract option.

Boyce has 36 goals in 107 appearances since making his Hearts debut in January 2020.

On the club’s official website, Joe Savage, the sporting director, said that Boycie’s contract extension is great news and a testament to his perseverance and determination.

“We always planned to wait to reintroduce him to the first team until he had had the time to heal and feel well.

“We didn’t want to put any pressure on Boycie; we just wanted to give him the best chance to reach his full potential.

I think it’s evident to all that he’s succeeded. His decision to extend his contract is wonderful news for all parties concerned, since he is a prominent player both on and off the field.
