Rangers Suffer Tragic Injury ahead of Benfica Clash

Dujon Sterling, the Europa League hero for Rangers, will not play in the second leg of their Round of 16 match against Benfica at Ibrox. The versatile 24-year-old will miss the game for Rangers, which is a significant blow after their 2-2 draw in Lisbon last week.

At the Estadio de Luz, Dujon Sterling scored his first goal as a professional football player. The Ibrox right-back appeared in the six-yard box and slotted the goal home.

While Todd Cantwell, the playmaker at Ibrox, is still doubtful for the game, Rangers winger Ross McCausland is still a question.

The Ibrox player, who was photographed practicing for the Europa League again, could play some part in the game.

Dujon Sterling’s absence is confirmed by Philippe Clement.
Philippe Clement, who gave a Rangers squad update prior to Benfica’s Europa League visit to Ibrox, at least seems to believe this.

Clement declared, “Dujon (Sterling) will not be in the selection.” “It’s not a major deal, but letting him play will put him at too much of a risk to make it worse.

“So, we’ll wait until Sunday to see if it’s feasible or not over the next few days.”

“And Ross McCausland continues to face issues, as you all witnessed at Hibs.” He entered the game and played for a little while, but after that, he began to experience more and more issues due of the persistent calf strain he sustained during the severe tackle he received against Motherwell.

“Therefore, he participated in a limited amount of the training, but we can’t push that too far,” the statement reads.

Regarding Todd Cantwell, Clement stated: “We always talk about how many minutes he’s ready to play with the medical staff.” They give me their opinion on it, which I have previously been following for five months. He is obviously not ready for ninety minutes, after which it will be decided whether or not to proceed. I don’t want to reveal too much.

Benfica will visit Rangers in the Europa League.
Rangers had about a dozen injury concerns going into their match against Benfica, and they haven’t really started to get better.

Although Todd Cantwell’s return is good news, losing key utility player Dujon Sterling is a serious setback.

When you include in Ross McCausland’s circumstances, Rangers find themselves with less talent than they had before the Benfica match.

However, anticipation is building in Glasgow ahead of Benfica’s Europa League visit, and it promises to be another historic Thursday night at Ibrox.
