Etheridge is expected to take more global measures.

The Philippines has called up Neil Etheridge for their international matches this month.

In an attempt to increase their chances of qualifying for the FIFA Men’s World Cup in 2026, the custodian for the Blues, who also serves as captain of their national team, has been selected for the Azkals once again.

After starting their qualifying campaign in Group F with losses to Vietnam and draws to Indonesia, the 34-year-old will now play with Tom Saintfiet’s 28-man squad against Iraq.

The Philippines will play their first Asian Qualifiers encounter at the Basra International Stadium on Thursday, March 21 at 7 p.m., followed by a Tuesday, March 26 kickoff at 11 a.m. against Jesus Casas Garcia’s team at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Etheridge was elected captain of the Philippines in June 2022 after earning 78 caps for his nation. His most recent appearance was in November’s 0-2 loss against Vietnam.

Ethers, good luck!

The start times are all in GMT.
