Manly’s Saab out for six weeks with hamstring injury

It appears that Manly winger Jason Saab sustained a hamstring injury during Manly’s match against South Sydney in Las Vegas. The injury will keep him out for approximately six weeks, with scans revealing a high-grade right hamstring injury. As a result, new recruit Tommy Talau will step in to replace Saab on the wing for their upcoming match against the Sydney Roosters. Coach Anthony Seibold has opted not to move Reuben Garrick from the centres to cover Saab’s absence.

In addition to Saab’s injury, second-rower Josh Schuster is set to return from a calf strain, but he will play for Manly’s feeder side, Blacktown Workers, in the NSW Cup. Schuster had missed the Las Vegas clash due to the calf injury, adding to a series of setbacks he faced during the off-season, including a broken finger and chickenpox.

Karl Lawton, who suffered an ankle tweak in the victory over South Sydney, has been named on the bench for the upcoming match against the Roosters. Despite Lawton’s injury, the team seems to have some depth with players like Ray Vaega as potential replacements.

It’s noted that second-rower Ben Trbojevic played well in the match against South Sydney, possibly complicating Schuster’s chances of reclaiming his spot in the starting lineup.
