According to West Ham manager David Moyes, rumors circulating regarding Ange Postecoglou joining Spurs are derogatory against his former team, Celtic.
As most supporters are aware, West Ham manager David Moyes is a former player and huge Celtic fan from his youth.
Since leaving Celtic in the summer, the Scot has therefore become particularly interested in the fortunes of Ange Postecoglou at West Ham’s fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Ironically, when Spurs enticed Moore to the Premier League, he was in fact linked to Celtic a few times as Postecoglou’s replacement.K
Moyes says what he’s heard about Postecoglou is an insult to Celtic
West Ham go to Tottenham on Thursday night and Moyes was asked his thoughts on the job being done by the headline-making Australian since he left Celtic for north London.
His response was full of the usual platitudes. But then the Bhoys fan – and potential future boss – in Moyes took over as he faced the press in his Hammers press conference.
West Ham boss Moyes says what he’s heard about Postecoglou at Spurs is an insult to Celtic.
Moyes said Postecoglou has done a ‘remarkable’ job at Tottenham.
‘Celtic are massive so why is anyone surprised?’
But he pointed out that his only surprise on that front was that people doubted he would after his success at Celtic – a huge club with expectations to match.
“He’s done remarkable,” Moyes said in his pre-Spurs presser.
“Tottenham are a really good side and he’s made a big difference to how they play, the crowd and the atmosphere.
“But I’m a bit surprised everyone else was surprised after what he did at Celtic, where the pressure is enormous and he coped and dealt with it.
“Tottenham are as a good as any side in the Premier League at the moment.”
The Spurs’ manager’s fan club is not limited to Moyes at West Ham.
Vice-chair Karren Brady appeared to hint she wanted Postecoglou at West Ham in a column while he was still Celtic boss.
