In a £70 million transaction, Manchester United acquired Casemiro from Real Madrid last year (Sky Sports).
At the Santiago Bernabeu, the Brazilian was unquestionably iconic. He was a vital component of the team that took home five Champions League championships.
Casemiro had high expectations coming into Manchester United, and while he hasn’t quite lived up to the fanfare, he has had some incredible moments.
Claude Mekelele, who knows a thing or two about being a world-class defensive midfielder, believes Casemiro is better than he ever was.
In a video on Goal, Makelele was asked to stay quiet until a better defensive midfielder was named. When players like Declan Rice, Roy Keane, Joshua Kimmich, and Javier Mascherano were mentioned, he remained silent; but, when Casmeiro’s name was brought up, he conceded defeat.

The Red Devils are currently 11 points behind Aston Villa in fourth place, and although finishing fifth could earn them a spot in the Champions League the next season, it is more likely that Tottenham will end up there.
Casemiro and several other players need to step up if Manchester United are to have a successful season finale.
This season, the Brazilian has played just 1090 minutes of football in the Premier League. If he can maintain his fitness, he can have a huge impact, and Erik ten Hag will undoubtedly be hoping he can play until the end of the year.
