Dodds: Bellingham Does Not Need Rest

18 year old Jobe Bellingham has played in all but one of Sunderland’s Championship games this season, but Mike Dodds is adamant that he doesn’t need a break.

NO DROPOFF IN DATA
We must use caution because he is eighteen. The best part about my job is that we have access to a ton of data about running speeds, distance traveled, and other related topics. We would need to pay attention to that if we sensed a significant decline in what he provides for us.”

TOP RUNNER
“However, there is one thing I would say about Jobe: he consistently ranks in the top half when it comes to running distance, intensity, and other related metrics. We constantly keep an eye on all of the players, and if the sport science department or the physiotherapists notice anything that could indicate that a player is tiring out or plateauing, you should have that discussion.”

LOTS OF RUNNING AGAINST SWANSEA
“The truth is that when he plays, he goes a great distance for us. I really don’t want to be that guy who talks about numbers all the time. He became stronger as the game progressed, especially in the second half against Swansea when he ran at a high tempo and covered some of the best distance of the season. Since he is eighteen, I totally get that it is a talking topic, but we are keeping an eye on it and will take appropriate action if the time comes.
