Rangers: A Sky Sports pundit defies popular opinion by picking Dan Casey to win over Motherwell.

Kenny Miller thinks the referees made the right decision in keeping Dan Casey on the field as the Rangers lost to Motherwell at Ibrox. Casey got away with it after taking a lunging challenge on Ross McCausland before winning the match on Saturday, March 2.

Miller disagreed with former FIFA officials Bobby Madley and Dermot Gallagher’s assessment that the challenge warranted a dismissal.

He stated, “I believe the referee got it right,” on Sky Sports News at 1:43 p.m. on March 4. The play was more of a clearance than a tackle, and Dan Casey arrived early.

“Obviously, in this day and age, with the tempo, intensity, and follow-through—and the follow-through red card, which I’ve never been a fan of—I don’t think Casey has really connected with McCausland and followed through with a high boot in this instance.

“He used more of his body to follow through.” Although I understand the aggressive aspect of it, I didn’t think it was a foul or a red card.

Rangers plummet in shock Ibrox’s loss at Motherwell
Miller is the first analyst or former official who has expressed disagreement with Casey’s choice to continue playing.

Officials made a number of contentious rulings over the course of the weekend, with Brendan Rodgers taking aim at Celtics’ defeat at the hands of Hearts.

Even though supporters of the Gers are still upset about what transpired at Ibrox, Celtic’s loss guarantees that everything is as it was at the top.

Regarding Casey’s challenge, it was a careless one that should have resulted in McCausland’s immediate red card.

Rangers
Philippe Clement was not pleased with the referees during the Rangers’ Ibrox defeat to Motherwell.
It’s astonishing that VAR official Euan Anderson and referee Alan Muir did not feel that way about each other.

Rangers at least have two important games this week to help them forget about the Motherwell setback, if that’s any solace.

Let’s hope that neither of those matchups is decided by a disputed call from the officials.
