The right-wing back Jasper Pattenden has signed a new contract with Wycombe Wanderers, the club has revealed. The 21-year-old made his debut for the Chairboys in September after an injury crisis on the right side of the defense. He has played in 14 competitive games for the squad this season.
Since then, he has started eight league games this season, but not in the division since November’s 1-0 away loss to Barnsley.
The former Worthing player has only appeared in one FA Cup match after sustaining a hamstring injury during the team’s 2-0 home loss to Morecambe.
Despite this, the Wycombe administration has taken notice of Pattenden’s attitude and tenacity and extended an offer of a new contract.
“Jasper had to wait for his opportunity, but he grabbed it when it came before he picked up an unfortunate injury,” manager Matt Bloomfield stated.
He exudes a lot of enthusiasm, and I really like the way he handles himself.
Despite not having played a part in the victory on Tuesday, he was the first to congratulate the youngsters.
“We’re thrilled he’s committed himself here and we have high hopes for him.
“We’re pleased with the development initiative.
“Pete Couhig worked really hard to get it going, and it provides non-league players like Jasper with an opportunity to advance.” This club has had true success.”
Prior to the start of Tuesday night’s league match, which the Chairboys won 2-0, Pattenden signed his new contract.
